THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – INCHING CLOSER TO SPRING & SOME GREEN!

We’re inching closer to spring and some green with each passing day! And we’re coming up on another weekend that is sure to be a spring green pleaser!  Here’s what’s going down!!

It’s finally here! It’s the much anticipated grand opening of the Punch Bowl Social Chicago located in the West Loop neighborhood (310 N. Green St.).  This Saturday (7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.), you will get two full hours of exclusive diner-inspired food, craft beverages, access to all of Punch Bowl Social’s rad activities (bowling, ping-pong, video games, etc.), and live music by veteran local rockers Local H!  You can secure your admission to this exclusive, ticket only grand opening by donating $20 to their charity partner, KT’s Kids – doing good while having a good time!!

Ale, suds, stout, lager, porter, brew … come celebrate all things beer at the 6th annual Windy City Brewhaha.  This one goes down on Saturday in the swanky, modern venue of The Geraghty (2520 S. Hoyne Ave.) on the Lower West Side with two sessions: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.  Even if you don’t know an ale from a pilsner, come learn about and celebrate this beverage with over 60 brews from over 30 brewers that include those specializing in under-the-radar local crafts like Flossmoor Station, Church Street, and Oak Park Brewing Company!  It’s been said that beer is the unifier of people so, check it out for yourself!!

BTW, if beer isn’t your unifier, maybe the Chicago Wine Fest is!  Head on over to Moe’s Cantina (155 W. Kinzie St.) in the River North neighborhood on Saturday between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to sample and enjoy over 35 different wines from all over the world!  Your ticket includes  not only the wine tastings but also a cheese plate!!

Finally, why not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a week early at one, or all, of the following Irish events:

Can you imagine chugging beer and/or whiskey while enjoying Chicago’s beautiful skyline as you cruise down Lake Michigan aboard a three-story luxury yacht?  Then the Unofficial St. Patrick’sDay Booze Cruise is just for you this Saturday (1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.) with a live DJ, dancing, giveaways, and more!  Your yacht will be waiting for you at Dusable Harbor (200 N. Breakwater Access) in The Loop!!

Spend a great time with family and friends as you wade into a massive sea of green at Sunday’s 40th annual Southside Irish Parade.  The parade kicks off at noon from 103rd St. and Western Ave. ending at 115th St. and Western Ave. in the Beverly neighborhood with Special Olympics Chicago leading the parade as the Grand Marshal!  Prior to the parade at 11:30 a.m., join in the 2018 Emerald Isle Mile which is a 1-mile B-tag timed run down Western Avenue with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the South Side Irish Parade!!

Celebrate faith, family, and heritage on the Northwest Side of Chicago at this year’s Northwest Side Irish Parade which kicks off at Noon at Onahan School (6634 W. Raven St.) in the Norwood Park neighborhood.  Afterwards, head over to the Immaculate Conception Recreation Center (7271 W. Talcott Ave.) for the official after party (1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)!  Plenty of corned beef and cabbage dinners, Eli’s Cheese cake, soda, and live entertainment will be waiting for you!!

BTW, First Day of Spring is March 20th!!!
