THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – HONORING OUR VETERANS!

To honor and remember those who have dedicated their lives to defending our freedom and civil liberties, Veterans Day (which falls on Saturday) is a time for all Americans to thank and honor those who have selflessly served in our military during wartime and peacetime!

The city of Chicago will honor local and national veterans at this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony being held at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., Gate O) in the South Loop at 11:00 a.m.  This ceremony includes a speaking program with the keynote address by The Honorable Ryan D. McCarthy who grew up in Glenview.  McCarthy proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2002 and was involved in combat operations in Afghanistan.  Once again, this ceremony will take place in front of the Doughboy statue culminating with a wreath laying ceremony, a 21-gun salute, “Taps”, and the “Armed Forces Medley.”  For other Veterans Day Celebrations taking place in Chicago, click the link provided here!
