Restaurant Review – Pho’s Spicier Thai

This week took me to Pho’s Spicier Thai Cuisine. We went to the Lakeview location (3332 N Lincoln), right off the Paulina brown line stop. The outside is unassuming and the place is so small, if you blink, you might miss it. We came in on a Wednesday evening, so there wasn’t much foot traffic. There are a limited number of tables, so at peak times or weekend days, I would suggest giving yourself a bit more time, as there may be a wait. My friend Allyson ordered her meal from the appetizer menu (one of my favorite things to do!). She chose the Crab Rangoon and the Chicken Satay. If you’ve followed these reviews, you know that I LOVE crab rangoons. These did not disappoint. Fried to perfection, they were crispy and creamy and perfectly complimented by the sweet and sour tamarind sauce. The Chicken Satay is marinated in coconut milk and Thai spices and then served with a light cucumber salad and peanut sauce. Allyson said the chicken was juicy, spicy, and the dipping sauce was delicious. I chose the Spicy Chicken Salad: thinly sliced chicken, red onion, cucumber, hot peppers, and cilantro, topped with a fresh lime juice dressing. I loved it! I was trying to decide between medium and hot spice level, and I am glad I went with the medium. It was much spicier than I expected! The vegetables were all fresh and crunchy and the lime juice dressing cooled down the heat of the peppers. My friend Taylor chose the Panang Curry with chicken. This curry dish has a creamy peanut butter sauce and is loaded with green peas, carrots, and bell peppers. Taylor gave this an enthusiastic two thumbs up!

Pho’s has another location in Lincoln Square, just off the Western Brown line at 4638 N Western. Hours at both locations are 11:30 am to 10 pm daily. Pho’s is also available for carry-out and delivery. There is a minimum delivery fee of $3. A free order of crab rangoons is yours with the purchase of any entree, for carry out or delivery only.
