CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS: Lincoln Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park, Lakeview, River North, Logan Square, Evanston

Lincoln Park: Philly Bros is coming to Lincoln Park! The new outlet is scheduled to open September 16 at 734 W Fullerton Ave. Steak isn’t all that’s on the menu, though. A few other menu items caught my eye, including the Fried Oreos for dessert: three fried Oreos topped with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. Make sure to check out this new fast food spot when it opens!

Bucktown and Wicker Park: The last movie in the park of the summer season is tomorrow night! Thanks to a summer thunderstorm, this Wicker Park movie night was postponed from June until now. The movie will begin at 8 PM in the park (1425 N Damen). Raising Arizona is the last in the Nicolas Cage series that was featured this summer. The night may be chilly, so in addition to your picnic, pack a blanket and jacket!

Lakeview: Are you looking for a little theatre this weekend? You’re in luck! Hair: The Musical is playing at Mercury Theatre in Lakeview. Performances are Wednesday through Friday evenings at 8 pm, Saturdays at 3 and 8 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm. Ticket prices range from $30 to $65. Senior tickets are available for between $30 and $60 and student tickets from $30 to $50. Hair runs until September 24 and tickets are available for purchase online.

River North: The Museum of Contemporary Art has a new restaurant. Marisol is now open inside the museum! Museum director Madeline Grynsztein says the restaurant is the museum’s latest effort to appeal to both and wider and younger audience. Marisol is run by chef Jason Hammel of Logan Square’s Lula Cafe and includes both a bar and restaurant. The menu includes locally sourced vegetables, meat, seafood, and handmade pastas. Hours are set for Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5:30 to 10:30 pm. The bar will be open until 11 pm on Saturday evenings. Find more information about this exciting new restaurant here.

Logan Square: Pop-up restaurants are a new fad hitting Chicago. Good Fortune is a new pop-up restaurant in Logan Square! Charles Welch and Andrew Miller are the forces behind the new seafood restaurant located at 3213 W. Armitage Ave. The partners are collaborating with a rotating list of local chefs on a monthly dinner. The first supper club will take place this Monday, September 11 from 5 to 11 pm. The featured chefs are Jon Zaragoza (of Barriera Zaragoza) and Carlos Matias (of Punch House and Acadia, among others). The dinner is called “Road to Ensenada”. Tickets cost between $35 and $65 and can be purchased online.

Evanston: Mark your calendars for a block party! Evanston knows how to get down and they’re going to prove it, with the Kits, Cats, and Kids Block Party. The party will take place on Thursday, September 14 from 4:45 to 7:30 pm on Sherman Ave., between Church and Clark St. There will be games, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities, and live music! The ETHS Marching Band and NU Marching Band will both be performing. A variety of food trucks will dish up both sweet and savory food. The first 200 hot dogs are free, so make sure to get there early! For more information, click here!
