KATHY’S HOME & GARDEN – TIME TO SPRING CLEAN!!!
Before the weather gets too hot it’s a great time to do some heavy duty cleaning around the house.
Walls Woodwork Interior doors etc.
Murphy’s oil soap (also known as flax soap) is great for this. It is gentle and effective. Always remember to clean from the bottom up to prevent streaks. A large sponge works well change soap solution when it becomes dingy or greasy feeling.
Vinyl Blinds
I know a lot of folks recommend using the tub for cleaning this difficult item. I’ve found that if you’re going to take them down anyway it’s just as easy to take them outside. Hang them over the fence. Spray them liberally with an all purpose cleaner such as Formula 409 or Fantastik. Let it soak for a while then rinse off with the hose. The blinds dry outside and won’t drip through the house.
Pictures and knickknacks
Five years ago I was trying to pare down my stuff around the house. Three grandchildren later I have no less than 100 pictures on the wall and on tables around the house. The best way to clean them is still the old standby Windex®. I’ve tried every kind of window cleaner and always come back. I was on a vinegar kick for a while. It works great but Windex® is a little easier to use especially on small stuff.
So let’s get busy before the hot weather gets here!!
