LIL’ BUDDY’S BLOG – KEEP CERTAIN FOODS AWAY FROM US DOGS!

THE CHICAGO IL REAL ESTATE MARKET AND OTHER THINGS CHICAGO FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF A LITTLE WHITE DOG!

Buddy Waits by his Cell Phone - November 2007Was that you who called? Man I hate when I can’t get to the phone quickly enough when it starts ringing!

Hope you had a very Happy New Year. I hit the doggie-sack early – about 12:30 in the morning – right after Dick Clark went off the air. I was a very good dog though – not much champagne and I haven’t broken any of my New Year’s Resolutions yet! (Have you?)

Hey this is serious stuff for us dogs especially when there are a lot of humans around eating food. We love most any kind of meat you know and a few vegetables as well. Some foods however are very toxic to us four-pawed little folks however. Humans be careful!

One very toxic food item to us dogs is raisins or grapes. I cringe when I read the account of one of our Canine Brothers a 56-pound Mixed Lab a Guy – who ingested only half a bag of raisins some years ago got very sick and eventually died. The story is very graphic and I almost couldn’t take it but I read it all the way through. Click for the full story on Snopes.com here – thanks for our mentor and Charleston SC Realtor Chris Tertzagian for passing the article on to me.

Animal poison control in Danville OH where the incident occurred in 2004 said even seven raisins given to a medium-sized dog (fewer for a Lil’ White Dog like me) can cause irreversible kidney damage even renal failure! Other toxic foods for dogs and cats include onions (either cooked or raw) garlic yeast dough and many types of nuts including macadamia nuts.

Do me a favor you dogs – pass this on to every human you know. We want to stay healthy so we can entertain our Human Moms and Dads. That’s the only sure way to get your belly rubbed anytime you like.

Have a Safe Healthy and Prosperous New Year everyone!
