HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND CHICAGO THIS WEEKEND!
What do you know! We got the Fourth of July firework displays off without a hitch or a drop of rain. What a great day! I hope you enjoyed the day as well.
Well it looks as if though Grant Park is the place to be this weekend! Here’s a sample of what’s going on —
If you haven’t been to the Taste of Chicago there’s still time. The Taste will be wrapping up this weekend. You had better hurry you don’t want to miss it.
The 73rd Annual Classical Music Series holds its third full season at the Jay Prizer Pavilion in Millennium Park. Entertainment by the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus and a host of international performers will be going all weekend long.
The 11th Annual Chicago Summer Dance Festival is an 11-week festival which includes one-hour dance lessons followed by live music and dancing. New this year in August contests will be held in four area Park Districts.
Lessons and bands for this weekend are as follows:
Friday July Th
6:00 p.m.: Dawud Sharer and Lura Satterfield (Stepping’)
7:30 p.m.: Gentlemen of Leisure
Saturday July 7th
6:00 p.m.: Kathy Brown (single- double- and triple-time swing)
7:30 p.m.: Sam Bernhardt Nonet
Sunday July Th
4:00 p.m.: Lisa "La Boriqua" (salsa)
5:00 p.m.: Willie Gomez Con Cache Orchestra
If you prefer to dodge the crowds while at Grant Park enjoying the scenic lake shore you might want to take a walk dip fish or sail near or on our beautiful Lake Michigan. There’s so much to do right here in "our kind of town!"
