THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Awaiting Summer’s Arrival!

This weekend brings us a variety of warm weather outdoor events as we anxiously await the arrival of our summer season!
As warmer weather approaches, it’s the perfect time to Swing into Summer this Saturday (12 p.m.-6 p.m.) at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood. The Pier will be transformed into an action-packed hub for sports fans of all ages to get their swings in and try their hands at baseball, softball, wiffle ball, golf, and pickleball. In addition, coaches and trainers will be stationed at select areas to guide players through the rules and assist them in developing new skills. And, adding even more fun to the mix, the Pier Park Mini Golf Course will host mini-golf competitions. It’s time to enjoy some of the most popular outdoor sports of the summer ahead!
One of Chicago’s premier summer kickoff events takes place this Saturday (12 p.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.-9 p.m.) with the 4th annual Lincoln Park Mayfest located in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood at 1000 West Armitage Avenue from Racine to Sheffield Avenues. This lively celebration offers performances from top local bands on two stages, local skilled artisan vendors, mouthwatering cuisine from renowned restaurants, and a variety of refreshing libations. In addition, there will be a kids’ area with activities and inflatables as well as a new Spring Fine Art Mart featuring both local and national fine artists. This Fest aims to make your weekend an unforgettable one!
It’s back! Nothing says summer like the Windy City Margarita Fest this Saturday (12 p.m.-10 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.-8 p.m.) in the Pilsen neighborhood at 1400 West Cermak Road (Cermak Rd. and Canalport Ave.). Not only is this Fest serving up 15+ kinds of margaritas from OG classics to new flavors, but it will also feature food, merch, bands, DJs, and more. It’s guaranteed to rev up your summer vibe!
Come experience the golden age of railroad travel at the 4th annual Pullman Railroad Days this Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) at the Pullman Exhibit Hall (11141 S. Cottage Grove Ave.) in the Pullman neighborhood. Two Historic Pullman Railcars will be featured this year – the 1928 “Suitsme” which includes a full-service kitchen, lounge, formal dining room, two state rooms and more; and the 1953 “Promontory Point” which features a lounge, a secretary’s room, a formal dining room, a full kitchen, two master bedrooms, a single bedroom, and open-air platform. Plus, discover exciting new exhibits, programs, and attractions at the Activity Fair; a huge Model Train Extravaganza; lots of live music; delicious Chicago food; and more. It’s sure to be like nothing you’ve ever experienced for an unforgettable, fun family weekend!
