There’s no better time than this weekend to begin working on our “look forward to” summer events!  It’s how we Chicagoans get through the winter season!!

The 36th annual Cubs Convention returns this weekend to the Sheraton Grand Chicago (301 E. Water St.) on The Magnificent Mile in the Streeterville neighborhood.  This fun-filled event features new surprises as well as fan-favorite activities such as autograph opportunities with the players, coaches, and alumni; engaging panel sessions; kid-friendly activities; Cubs Bingo and much more!  Also, new this year (Friday and Saturday only) will be display rooms featuring never-before-seen jerseys, bats, baseballs, trophies, awards and more from the Cubs Archives collection!  Let’s Play Ball!!

After a two-year hiatus, the 2023 Chicago Boat Show returns to McCormick Place South (2301 S. Lake Shore Dr.) in the South Loop this Saturday (10 a.m.-8 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).  Attendees will be able to tour a wide selection of boats from the newest yachts to motorboats to pontoons and more.  Plus, there’s an abundance of must-see attractions and fun features for all ages such as taking a ride on the new FlowRider Surf Simulator, paddling your way through Paddlefest Pool, discovering the secrets of Sand Sculpting, boarding the Gypsy Rose III Landship, going fishing in the Huck Finn Trout Pond, hanging out in the Island Party Hut and Boat Playpen, and much more!  Let’s get ready for summer!!

The Chicago Travel and Adventure Show is back this Saturday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Hall F (5555 N. River Rd.) in Rosemont and ready to give you the tools you need to make your travel decisions for this year.  This show offers advice from travel experts and representatives from over 250 destinations, seminars on how to book cheap flights, the best travel tech, four theaters for participants to learn the tricks of the trade, and more.  Plus, this year’s headliners include Travel TV Emmy award winning host Samantha Brown, Frommers Guide publisher Pauline Frommer, and CBS travel editor Peter Greenberg!  Time to start planning your next big trip!!

Join the comfiest party of the year at the 6th annual Onesie Bar Crawl at SPIN Chicago (344 N. State St.) in the River North neighborhood this Saturday (4 p.m.-12 a.m.).  Your ticket includes 1-2 complimentary drinks or shots, exclusive drink specials, food specials at partner venues, waived cover fees at all venues, a totally awesome after party, and more!

Have you ever wondered what it was like during Chicago’s prohibition era?  If so, you can go back in time at The Roar Speakeasy: A Prohibition Era Experience this Saturday (7 p.m.-10 p.m.) at The Roar on Rush (437 N. Rush St.) on the Near North Side.  Enter a secret passageway to a unique 4-room cocktail experience set in the prohibition era where each room tells a story and is paired with a cocktail tasting from prohibition times.  Also, within these rooms you will meet vibrant figures from the elaborate web of a Roaring Twenties bootlegging operation.  Afterwards, take a seat in the Speakeasy for more cocktails, food, and live music with special performances!  Don’t forget to don your best flapper dresses and linen jackets!!
