THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Still the Fall Season – Still November!

Yes, it’s still the fall season and you haven’t missed Thanksgiving!  So let’s see what this third weekend in November has in store for us.  After all, we deserve a milder weekend- especially after the arctic temps of this past week!!

Watch cooking demonstrations and enjoy unlimited sampling of chef creations from the best local restaurants at the USA TODAY Wine and Food Experience in the United Club at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr.) in the South Loop this Saturday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.  It’s a quintessential Grand Tasting of over 30 of Chicago’s finest chefs and restaurateurs, including wine, food, craft beer, and spirits sampling!  Chef meet and greets and seminars deliver unforgettable experiences for all attendees as well.  Indulge in the VIP experience for an hour early admittance- plus a chance to mix and mingle with the chefs.  It’s time to sip, sample, and savor!!

You are invited to attend the 15th annual Lycée French Market this Saturday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at 1929 W. Wilson Avenue (Lycée’s campus) in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.  It’s a bustling French market where local and French artisans sell fine and decorative arts, home décor, apparel, accessories, gourmet food, jewelry, and more.  Guests can also enjoy their wonderful Bistro, offering a delicious menu of authentic French recipes.  Live music in the lobby, children’s entertainment, and activities are provided both days as well!  It’s a great way to get a head start on your holiday shopping!!

Sidetrack (3348 N. Halsted St.) in the Lakeview neighborhood is the place to be this Saturday (1 p.m.-5 p.m.) for the 2019 Jack Daniel’s Chili Cook-Off.  Chow down on chili from fabulous Lakeview East restaurants and vote for your favorite to win the competition.  Participants include Houndstooth Saloon, The Chicago Diner, Wrigley BBQ, Drew’s on Halsted, Big Star, Rizzo’s Bar & Inn, and many others.  Your $10 ticket includes 14 chili samples and fun giveaways!  Who’s hungry?

Chicago has been turned into a giant board game with the Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure-The Loop Chicago this Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m.) at Kamehachi (320 N. Dearborn St.) on the Near North Side.  While being guided from any smart phone, teams make their way among well-known and overlooked gems of the city, solving clues and completing challenges while learning local history.  It’s like combining the excitement of the Amazing Race with a three-hour city tour!  Best of all, you can start when you want and play at your own pace!!

As usual, it’s never too early to kick off the holiday season here in Chicago!  This Saturday (5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.) NewCity hosts its annual Tree Lighting Festival at 1457 N. Halsted Street on the Near North Side.  This year’s festival features live entertainment by the British International School of Chicago student choir and The Boy Band Night, a giant tree, train rides aboard the Twinkle Express, and an Elf Workshop with face painting, balloon twisting, and ornament decorating.  Meet Santa Claus and his reindeer while staying warm and cozy with hot cocoa, cookies, s’mores, and spiced rum!  And if you RSVP on Eventbrite, you’ll have a chance to win a prize valued at $500- but you must be present to win.  It’s a free, fun for all ages event!!
