Restaurant Review – Mixed Greens

I am always on the search for a new healthy restaurant! This week took me to Mixed Greens, a self proclaimed salad joint in River North. It is definitely geared towards quick lunches, with counter service and a small number of tables inside. There is a lovely small patio with flower boxes and twinkle lights, which is where we chose to sit. They have a sizable menu, with signature salads, build your own, paninis, pizza (only available at the Erie location), and soups. I decided to go with one of the Signature Salads- the Sashimi Sunomono. There was a large bed of mixed greens, topped with seared ahi tuna, organic carrots, julienne snap peas, edamame, wasabi peas, and a sesame shiitake vinaigrette. I also decided to add avocado. This was delicious! All of the veggies were so fresh and crisp! I loved the addition of the wasabi peas; they gave the salad a great spicy snap and a little crunch. The dressing was very tasty too! My friend ordered the Mexicali: field greens toped with chicken, corn, black beans, white cheddar cheese, plum tomatoes, cilantro, corn chips, honey lime vinaigrette, and a spicy peanut sauce. Again, I was so impressed with the quality of the ingredients. Everything was fresh! The combination of flavors was delicious. I was especially surprised by the spicy peanut sauce. I never would have pictured that on this type of salad, but it was wonderful. I will definitely be back!

Mixed Greens has two locations; one in River North at 308 W Erie St. and one in The Loop at 175 N Franklin St. Online ordering is available through Seamless, Door Dash, and Grubhub. Mixed Greens also offers catering. Find more information on their website.
