Today is Veterans Day. Let us commemorate with pride and dignity the men and women who have served our nation’s Armed Forces. Whether or not you support our government’s ideologies for its military purposes, it is undeniable that the Americans who have chosen to give their lives, time and energies to serve and protect deserve the tribute.
So, you’ve decided to host Thanksgiving dinner this year. Congrats! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Any holiday spent around eating great food is number one in my books. There are many shortcuts and tips to make the day go smoothly and let you have some fun not spending the entire day in the kitchen.
Moe’s Cantina is in the heart of Wrigleyville at 3518 N. Clark Street. We were there on the night the Cubs won the World Series and I have to admit there are a lot of great things about this restaurant.
After the week we just experienced here in Chicago with a Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship, turning it down a notch this weekend may not be such a bad idea! Besides, we gain an hour as Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday as well!!
Amidst the excitement of the Cubs winning the World Series last night and Election Day this coming Tuesday, the Chicago Humanities Festival still has many events available from today 11/3 to next Saturday, 11/12.
It’s the first week of November already! Boy, does time fly. Thanksgiving week will be here before we know it. Now that we have enough time it’s good to plan for an easy and stress-free holiday.
When heading over to the West Loop for brunch, you really need to go check out MAD Social located at 1140 W. Madison Street. We had a group of five of us so got a chance to taste a good portion of the menu.
Did you know that Halloween is said to be more Irish than St. Patrick’s Day? Its origins come from an ancient Celtic festival for the dead called “Samhain.” The Celts believed the ghosts of the dead roamed Earth on this holiday, so people would dress in costumes and leave “treats” out on their front doors to appease the roaming spirits. Well, here in Chicago, we’ll be appeasing those roaming spirits ourselves this weekend!
If you wind up ending your work week feeling like a zombie then slog your way out to the Culver’s at 6943 W. Roosevelt Rd. to join the 7th Annual Zombie Walk & Pub Crawl tomorrow, Friday 10/28. The organized event kicks off from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. with zombie make-up if you don’t wear your own.
