Restaurant Review – DS Tequila Co.

Weekends are for brunching- and this weekend…. I brunched! I went to DS Tequila Co., located in Boystown at 3352 N. Halsted. We had a group of 15 people, so I made a reservation in advance. We were seated at a long table in the greenhouse, glass enclosed patio. The patio is heated during the winter, which was perfect for a chilly April Saturday. The brunch menu is sizable, with a nice selection of both breakfast and lunch items. Everything sounded so good, I could hardly make a decision! I finally decided on the Taco Trio Brunch Platter: your choice of mix and match tacos with a side of hash browns. I decided on one Breakfast Taco: chorizo, scrambled eggs, queso, pico de gallo, salsa verde; and two Bourbon Chicken Tacos: chicken, crispy onion strings, jalapeño ranch, sweet n’ tangy bourbon sauce, and scallions. I added avocado to one of my chicken tacos too. DS Tequila makes their own flour tortillas in house and they are fantastic! Both tacos were delicious, but I especially loved the chicken. The barbecue sauce was sweet and spicy and the crispy onion strings gave it such awesome texture. My best friend ordered the Hangover Skillet: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, and chicken sausage, all topped with queso cheese. This was so good! I loved the addition of the chicken sausage, it was unique and very tasty. And obviously, anything that’s smothered in queso is going to be marvelous; this was no exception. My boyfriend ordered The Classic Burger: a ground beef patty, lettuce, tomato, applewood smoked bacon, sharp cheddar, tequila onions, all on a pretzel bun, served with seasoned corkscrew fries. He loved it! He likes a more simple burger, but he really liked the addition of the tequila onions. I had a bite and this was a very solid burger! We will definitely be back to try more menu items here. 

The kitchen at DS Tequila is open Sundays through Wednesdays from 11 am to 10 pm and Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 am to 11 pm. The brunch menu is available Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 3 pm. Find more information and plan your visit here.
