THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Gearing Up for the Spookiest Season of the Year!

It’s time to gear up for the spookiest season of the year.  These pre-Halloween weekend events are sure to do the trick!  After all, Chicagoans love Halloween!!

Come celebrate Halloween at the Pumpkins in the Park 5K on Saturday (4:00 p.m.) at the South Fieldhouse (1800 N. Stockton Dr.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Run on a beautiful course through the neighborhood sporting your premium goodie bag.  Afterwards, stick around for a party featuring pumpkin pie, a costume contest, pumpkin decorating, and a pie-eating contest!

Experience the sights, lights, and frights of a Chicago Halloween on one of the Seadog Haunted River Tours departing from Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood through October 31st.  Check out Chicago’s spookier side as one of Seadog’s talented tour guides divulges the many secrets, spirits, scandals, and sins of the Windy City through spine tingling tales of mysterious supernatural occurrences and infamous figures!

Now in its 4th year, Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade moves to a new location this year on historic State Street in The Loop.  The parade begins at Lake Street and moves south to Van Buren Street on Saturday (6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.).  This magical evening parade will delight hundreds of thousands of locals and visitors with unique floats, spectacle puppets, and creative performances against the backdrop of Chicago’s majestic skyline!  Be part of this event which celebrates Halloween as the “artist’s holiday!!”

Experience the haunting of a lifetime at Naperville’s (Chicago suburb) All Hallows Eve located at Naper Settlement (523 S. Webster St.) this Friday and Saturday (6:30 p.m.).  This outdoor, all-weather event features 12 acres of haunting creatures, eerie entertainment, screaming delights, and must-see horrors.  The city’s historic buildings are turned into H.H. Holmes’ murder castle, Frankenstein’s laboratory, a torture dungeon, a Victorian insane asylum, and more!  Come meet the lost souls of the dead in a haunted happening you won’t forget – if you dare!!  (Event not recommended for young children.)

Even Chicago’s furry, four-legged family members have an opportunity to celebrate Halloween with their humans at any or all the following events:

Lakeview Halloween Pup Crawl takes place at 3306 N. Halsted St. in the Lakeview neighborhood on Saturday (10:00 a.m.).  Hosted by Miss Foozie, this pup crawl is a fun pre-Halloween dog party and neighborhood walk. The event includes a prize raffle, gift bags, treats, and an after party at Lark featuring Alaskan Brewing Co. Oktoberfest sampling.  $5 registration per dog includes raffle entry and goodie bag/treats!  Dog costumes are optional but encouraged!!

Chicago Canine Rescue Mutt Strut takes place at 1350 W. Newport Ave. in the Lakeview neighborhood on Saturday (11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.).  Hundreds of dog lovers will fill the streets of Southport Corridor for a fun-filled, 80’s themed block party and 1.5-mile walk.  So, grab your furry best friend and get ready to party like it’s 1989!!

For Paws Club Howl-o-ween Party takes place at Pooch Hotel West Loop (1214 W. Monroe St.) on Sunday (3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.).  Dress up your furry friends and come have a spooktacularly good time with For Paws Club for a costume contest and indoor, off-leash play time!  One winner will be chosen from each category (Scariest, Best Group (Dog/Owner), Best Pack (Group of Dogs), Funniest) and awarded a prize basket from one of their amazing partners!!  Plus, 100% of the proceeds will benefit One Tail at a Time.  So, who’s ready to party for a great cause?!
