THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Awaiting Summer’s Best Holiday – 4th OF JULY!

As we anxiously await the arrival of summer’s biggest holiday here in Chicago, this pre-Fourth of July weekend will be somewhat low key as a heat wave overtakes us!

The Windy City Ribfest returns to the Uptown neighborhood at Lawrence and Broadway Avenues with top local and national ribbers this Friday (4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.), Saturday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.), and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.).  Not only are tasty slabs and sides featured at this fest but also a smokin’ music lineup along with arts & crafts and an activity area for the kids. Ribfest is bringing its A-game on their 10th anniversary!  It’s a must visit Chicago summer fest!!

Wrapping up this weekend (Friday & Saturday) at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood is the Chi-Soul Fest.  This free soul music festival in honor of Black Music Appreciation Month is an intergenerational musical conversation of Chicago soul music reflecting its past, present, and future.  In fact, Chicago’s rich history of soul was showcased on the famous record row in the 60s and 70s on South Michigan Avenue.  Although record row is now gone, the legacy of soul still lives on in Chicago’s musical landscape!

The Chicago Cubs will be hosting the Minnesota Twins this Friday (4:05 p.m.), Saturday & Sunday (1:20 p.m.) at Wrigley Field (1060 W. Addison St.) in the Wrigleyville neighborhood; if you wish to take in some baseball this scorching weekend!  The Cubs will also be hosting the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday & Wednesday (1:20 p.m.) for the July 4th holiday!!

In case you didn’t know, we have a new baseball stadium and team in town!  Join the Chicago Dogs as they take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at the new state-of-the-art Impact Field (Balmoral Ave. & Pearl St.) in Rosemont this Friday & Saturday (7:05 p.m.) and Sunday (1:05 p.m.)!!
