THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – HOP TO IT – IT’S EASTER!

Hop to it and get in on all the fun during Easter weekend here in Chicago!

Start your weekend with the 8th annual Bunny Rock 5K & Egg Hunt at Montrose Harbor (601 W. Montrose Ave.) in the Uptown neighborhood on Saturday (5K 9:00 a.m./Egg Hunt 10:15 a.m.).  This festive race features 80’s rock music at the start and finish line and helps to raise money for the Red Door Animal Shelter (official charity partner).  Plus, all 5K participants receive bunny ears, neon sunglasses, a dri-fit unisex t-shirt, and a finisher medal!  Various activities will be available for families and kids of all ages while the 5K is taking place.  For kids 2-10, there will be an egg hunt with over 3,000 candy filled eggs, photo ops with the Easter Bunny. and a live petting zoo!!  There’ll be lots of excitement at this spring race for everyone!!!

The Chicago Park District Egg Hunts taking place on Saturday are at the following parks:  Commercial Club Playground Park, Skinner Park, Haas Park, Chase Park, Armour Square Park, Clarendon Park Community Center, and Loyola Park.  Many of these events feature treats, prizes, face painting, arts & crafts, and photo ops with the Easter Bunny!  Check out their website for details.

Perhaps you’d like to try your hand at The Art of Dying an Egg on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) at the Ace Hotel Chicago (311 N. Morgan St.) in the River West neighborhood.  Designer Lydia Crespo will guide you through a natural dye workshop that takes the art of Easter egg dying to another level!  You will learn how to extract pigment from vegetables to naturally dye and decorate your holiday eggs.  And students (children 12 and up) will make and take home a half dozen beautifully colored eggs!!  Go ahead and impress your family with your egg decorating talents!!!

Join the Hard Rock Café (63 W. Ontario St.) on the Near North Side this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) for their Breakfast with the Easter Bunny & Egg Hunt.  Enjoy a full spread of Easter Brunch favorites, a photo op with the Easter Bunny (bring your camera,) and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids!!

Celebrate Easter in style on the water at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood. You’ll have a blast on one of the following cruises and create a lasting memory to boot!

Odyssey Easter Cruises – brunch (1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.); early dinner (5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.).  The brunch cruise features a 3-course Easter brunch menu and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, while the early dinner cruise features a 3-course plated dinner menu.  Both cruises will also have upscale DJ entertainment and incredible views of the Chicago Skyline!

Spirit of Chicago Easter Brunch Cruise – 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.  This two hour cruise features a delicious Easter brunch buffet, a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, onboard entertainment with a DJ and interactive games, and amazing views of Chicago’s Skyline!
