THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Ringing in Another New Year – 2018!
Here in Chicago, we’ll be bidding farewell to 2017 and ringing in the new year of 2018 with unique and memorable ways to celebrate for both families and adults-only!
Here are a few of the family-friendly New Year’s Eve events taking place on Sunday. After all, why should the adults have all the fun?
The Anita Dee Yacht Charters (DuSable Harbor – 200 N. Breakwater Access) in The Loop will be offering a New Year’s Eve Family Friendly Afternoon Cruise from 12:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This all-ages cruise features live DJs, amazing skyline views, and cocktails to celebrate the afternoon of New Year’s Eve!
The Chicago Children’s Museum (Navy Pier – 600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood will be hosting its annual, all ages New Year’s Eve at Noon from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Festivities include making a crown (10:30 a.m.), a dance party (11:30 a.m.), and the countdown with a confetti drop at noon in the Great Hall! Afterwards, take the kids to the Tinkering Lab: Monster Playground where they can be an engineer on one of the playground pieces to get a monster moving!!
The Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 N. Cannon Dr.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood will be hosting its New Year’s Eve at ZooLights from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Kids of all ages can celebrate New Year’s Eve amid the magical illuminated trees and exotic menagerie at the zoo. They’ll also receive complimentary festive hats, horns, and party favors to add to the fun of ringing in the new year!
As for the adults –
This year’s New Year’s Eve 5K will start and end at Chicago’s newly renovated and historic Theater on the Lake (2401 N. Lake Shore Dr.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Runners will receive a custom winter wearable and a finisher toast, as well as hot chocolate and warming blankets at the post-race celebration. And, this event supports Special Olympics Chicago as the charity partner! There’s no better way to start the day and earn your right to party in 2018!!
Perhaps you’d like to Ring in 2018 at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood! You have two choices: the “Chicago Resolution Gala”, known as the “it” New Year’s Eve event at the Pier with access to the Aon Grand Ballroom, or the “Crystal Gardens New Year’s Eve” party celebrating its 11th anniversary. There will be 20 premium liquor bars, hors d’oeuvres, signature dishes at various food stations, and special guest DJs. Then, welcome in 2018 at the Pier’s “New Year’s Eve Fireworks” presented by Miller Lite! Watch a kaleidoscope of fireworks synchronized to inspiring music over Lake Michigan. No New Year’s Eve celebration would be complete without a trip to Navy Pier!!
