THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Enjoying Holiday Traditions!

We’re getting down to the wire.  Christmas Day is just 9 days away.  And, leave it to Chicagoans to come out in full force to enjoy the city’s holiday traditions!

One of the best holiday traditions is back and doing it bigger than ever with Kahlua’s Ugly Sweater Run this Saturday (11:00 a.m.) at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr.) in the South Loop.  Don your ugliest sweater for this popular 5K through the city’s streets and scenic parks, benefitting the One Warm Coat charity.  Massive inflatables, photo stations, games, and holiday music will greet you at the start line. Then,  a family photo in a larger than life snow globe and so much more will greet you at the finish line!  Awards will be given for Best Ugly Sweater, Best Kids Sweater, Best Pet Attire, and Best Real/Fake Mustache/Beard.  So, ready, set, ho! ho! ho!-  it’s the Merriest 5K of the year!!

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, come spread some holiday cheer at the best bars in the River North neighborhood at this year’s Chicago Santa Crawl this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.).  Included with your ticket is a breakfast buffet, three $4 gift cards to use on the crawl, a Santa hat, drink specials, giveaways, and more!  The after-party will continue at Moe’s Cantina River North.  Just mention that you are there for the Chicago Santa Crawl between 10:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m. and receive two cocktails on Moe!!

One of Chicago’s most popular and beloved Christmas traditions is celebrating its 34th anniversary this year!  The Music Box Christmas Double Feature & Sing-a-Long presents on the big screen the holiday favorites “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas” this Saturday and Sunday through December 24th.  Once again, Santa Claus welcomes the audience and leads them in singing holiday favorites, accompanied by the Music Box’s organist Dennis Scott, before sitting back to enjoy these Christmas movie classics (check website for times)!  Folks from all around the Chicagoland area have made this event a part of their family’s holiday tradition!!  Why not you?

When Christmas comes around, Chicago lights up.  And, there’s no shortage of glowing, glittering Chicago Holiday Tours to take you around the city’s best holiday displays!  Here are just a few ! The “Holiday Lights Tour with Chicago Trolley” includes two stops at Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza and ZooLights at the Lincoln Park Zoo. “Spotlight on Architecture” includes two stops at Millennium Park and the tree beneath the Wrigley Building. And finally, “A Season-Sampling Tour” is a 3 hour walking tour offered through Bobby’s Bike Hike. There’s no better way to enjoy the holidays with friends and family than going on the Meet People Chicago’s BYOB Party Bus Holiday Lights Tour this Saturday (4:30 p.m.). It begins at the Trophy Room in the River North neighborhood.  This fun holiday event lasts 5 hours as you ride around Chicago seeing the best light spots and festivals the city is offering this holiday season, along with a few stops!  You’ll also receive a cool Santa Hat, a Trophy Room gift card, and a free MPC event card!!  A holiday must for all Chicagoans!!!
