Restaurant Review – Pho 777

Living near Asia on Argyle is both wonderful and dangerous. And I mean dangerous for my waistline. There are SO many incredible restaurants. But there is one stand-out for me: Pho 777. This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Period. We went in on a Wednesday night at 7 pm and had no problem getting a table. We started with a couple of appetizers: the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake) and the Guoi Con (spring rolls). I have never had a Vietnamese pancake, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. This is basically a giant, crispy omelet filled with shrimp, bean sprouts, and pork. It is delicious! The “pancake” is crunchy, perfectly greasy, and pairs well with its savory dipping sauce. The spring rolls were very tasty as well. I particularly enjoyed the combination of pork and shrimp! For my entree, I ordered my favorite Vietnamese dish: a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and egg rolls. The pork was cooked to perfection and had so much flavor. The bowl was packed with lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, mint, and basil and every piece was so fresh and delicious. The egg rolls were packed full of meat and were not overcooked (a problem I’ve had at other restaurants). The fish sauce added just the right amount of sweetness, without being overpowering. True to the name, I have heard that the Pho is amazing, so I will keep that on my list for next time.

Pho 777 is closed on Mondays. They are open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 am to 10 pm and Sundays from 9 am to 9 pm. They do not take reservations. Pho 777 does not deliver, but is available for take-out. Check out this fabulous spot!
