THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – No Shortage of Fun in Chicago!

As we head into the last weekend of August (yes, already), there is no shortage of fun to be found here in Chicago!

Returning for its 28th year this Saturday and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.), Taste of Greektown is a culinary fest on Halsted Street (100 S. to 400 S.). This happening West Loop neighborhood is known to many as Greektown.  Celebrating its Hellenic pride by blending Old World traditions with a 21st Century freshness, this fest features Greek food from neighborhood eateries, music including Greek bands and dance performances, artisans, a lively-gyros eating contest, and games for both kids and families!  A must-attend for lovers of Mediterranean culture!!  Opa!!!

The popular Food Truck Social returns for its 2nd year to the Logan Square neighborhood on Humboldt Boulevard between Armitage and Bloomingdale Avenues this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.).  This year, attendees will find the best mobile eats from 25 food trucks paired with cold beer, top notch live music on two stages, and local retail vendors!  A Sampler Ticket is available and includes six sample-sized portions from any food truck or restaurant onsite, as well as sponsored sample beer varieties!!

One of Chicago’s premier arts festivals, Bucktown Arts Fest, returns to the Bucktown neighborhood at North Oakley Avenue and West Lyndale Street this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.).  With 200 juried artists, two music stages, dancers, poets & performers, food trucks, craft beer and sangria, one would be hard pressed to not have fun!  As for the kids, the Kids Tent will feature Make & Take activities and art projects from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. both days.  Kicking off the second day of the festival (11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), is the first annual Barktown Dog Parade! Costumes are encouraged!!

The Streeterville neighborhood is hosting the First Annual Chicago Baby Show at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) this Saturday and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) for new and expecting parents.  No other event provides a better experience for those seeking a family-friendly jamboree of top brands, great speakers & seminars, big giveaways, lots of learning, support, bonding and fun as you make your way into parenthood!  It’s a baby event like no other!!

The Transamerica Chicago Triathlon takes place this Sunday at Montrose Harbor (700 S. Lake Shore Drive) in the Uptown neighborhood.  Triathletes will gather on the shores of Lake Michigan for one of the largest triathlons in the world! It begins with a protected harbor swim, then on to a multi-level scenic, flat bike ride, followed by a rousing run through the Museum Campus!  Saturday pre-race events include the Life Time Kids Tri Chicago and the Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint both at Foster Beach (5200 N. Lake Shore Dr.).  The Multisport & Fitness Expo also takes place this Saturday (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) at Chicago Hilton & Towers (720 S. Michigan Ave.).  Remember, you don’t have to participate in the races to have fun!!
