Restaurant Review – Bar on Buena

If you’re a How I Met Your Mother fan, you know that it is of the utmost importance to find yourself a neighborhood bar. Everyone’s got to have their MacLaren’s! When my best friends moved to Chicago, we found ours. Bar on Buena is a charming, cozy neighborhood bar. Once again, it has an incredibly surprising food menu! We’ve been in a number of times now, so I’m going to share some of my favorite BoB dishes with you. Every Monday night, BoB serves up $5 burgers. You heard me correctly, five. dollar. burgers. The burgers come with all the fixins: lettuce, tomato, onion, as well as your choice of regular or sweet potato fries. For $1 each, you can add five different types of cheese, grilled onions, diced serrano peppers, or sautéed mushrooms. For $2 each, you can add bacon, a fried egg, roasted red pepper, red dragon cheddar, or bleu cheese. I usually get the regular burger and it is top notch. They always cook the burger perfectly and you just can’t beat it for $5. Wednesday nights, you must stop by Bar on Buena for their endless mac and cheese. For just $8, you get a giant, refillable bowl of that week’s mac and cheese creation. This past week, they topped their standard mac and cheese with parmesan, bread crumbs, summer sausage, and chipotle sauce. My best friend loves mac and cheese and she gave this two thumbs up. The chipotle sauce was perfectly spicy and the summer sausage was a unique and tasty addition.

Bar on Buena is open Sundays from 11:30 am to 2 am, Mondays through Fridays from 4 pm to 2 am, and Saturdays from 11:30 am to 3 am. The kitchen is open Sundays from 11:30 am to 10 pm, Mondays through Thursdays from 5 pm to 11 pm, Fridays from 5 pm to midnight, and Saturdays from 11:30 am to midnight. Bar on Buena also features Taco Tuesdays: $2 tacos and $4.50 5 Rabbit beers. Thursday evenings, take 25% off all beer and whisky flights. Bar on Buena is located in the heart of Buena Park at 910 W. Buena Ave.
