THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO – Summer Arrives With Spring-Like Temps!

You’re not going to believe that Chicago welcomed in the “official” start of summer this past Wednesday, as our weekend temps will be more like spring temps!  But, that might not be such a bad thing for this weekend’s outdoor festivals!!

Chicago’s ultimate summer party is “bringing it back” to the block on the Old St. Pat’s campus (700 W. Adams St.) in the West Loop neighborhood for its 33rd annual Old St. Pat’s World’s Largest Block Party on Saturday from 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.  Besides great music, entertainment for all ages, and fabulous food from the hottest food trucks, there are also two raffles!  The first is the Pot ‘O Gold with a Grand Prize of $20,000 and the second has many great prizes and a Grand Prize of round trip airfare for two to Ireland on Aer Lingus.  But, that’s not all!  Adults can participate in the Miller Lite Bags Tournament, where great prizes will be awarded and the kids will have plenty to do in the KidZone (Sat, 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.).  Also, your fun can continue at several participating bars (check link) after the block party ends!!

The 4th annual Chicago Food Truck Fest returns to the South Loop (1600 S. Wabash Ave.) this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.).  General admission with event ticket is free while tickets last and permits access to 45 gourmet food trucks, live music, beverages, a sangria garden, give-a-ways, outdoor games and more!

Chicago’s only beachside-summer-music-festival, Mamby on the Beach, returns to Oakwood Beach (4100 S. Lake Shore Dr.) in the Oakland neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday (1:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.).  This lakefront festival is much more than the amazing, diverse roster of music representing numerous genres.  It also features art installations scattered across the grounds, yoga, health & wellness, fashion & beauty, beach-friendly games and more!  Also, new this year are purchasable tickets for a Private VIP Cabana!!  And, several official after parties are planned for those who don’t want their evening to end at 10:00 p.m.!!!

The Taco & Tequila Festival takes place in Chicago’s beautiful, historic Jackson Park (6401 S. Stoney Island Ave.) in the Woodlawn neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday (1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.).  At least twelve of Chicago’s top taco chefs & restaurants will be offering their signature tacos. There will be three pavilions offering small batch tequila tastings for an extra $15 ticket and mixologists will demonstrate the newest tequila cocktail recipes for this summer!  This festival also features continuous music provided by local DJs, alternative food stalls, beer and non-alcoholic beverages and a Best Taco voting contest!!

Wrapping up National Pride Month, Chicago’s LGBTQ community will be celebrating with their annual Chicago Pride Parade this Sunday stepping off at noon from the corner of Montrose Avenue and Broadway Street.  The parade features 150 registered entries that include floats, decorated vehicles, performance groups, a marching band and walking contingents as they wind their way through Uptown, the Boystown strip and Lakeview before ending in the Lincoln Park neighborhood at Diversey Parkway and Cannon Drive.  Be sure to arrive early for the best spot!
