Bucktown and Wicker Park: After more than 70 years of business, Sam’s Red Hots is leaving Bucktown. Don’t cry yet; it’s being replaced by Jr’s Red Hots! If all his ducks are in a row, owner Arturo Torres Jr. predicts the new eatery will open next weekend. Hours will be 10 am to midnight on weekdays and from 10 am to 4 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Jr’s menu includes Chicago dogs, polish sausages, and hamburgers. Hot dogs and sausages start at $3.89 and hamburgers at $5.49 (all orders include French fries). The stand is located at 2345 W. Armitage Ave.

Lincoln Park: Chopo Chicken is coming to Lincoln Park this Sunday! Located at 2460 N. Clark St., the restaurant will bring Peruvian cuisine to the neighborhood. On Sunday, the new spot will be serving up free chicken and yucca fries from 12 pm to 3 pm. The menu includes quarter-chicken bowls, cilantro beef stew, and ceviche bowls. Some of their mouthwatering sides are the aforementioned yucca fries, sweet potato fries, and polleria coleslaw. The outside of the restaurant is stunning as well, featuring a colorful mural designed by one of the owners and inspired by Peruvian fabrics.

Lakeview: Byron’s Hot Dogs is temporarily closed due to an unexpected fire. Located at 1017 W. Irving Park Road, the shop has not announced a re-opening date. The fire was small and there was minimal damage, so the owners hope to open back up within the next few weeks. Their second location (1701 W. Lawrence Ave.) is up and running.
