Restaurant Review – Tank Noodle

I am a sucker for Vietnamese food and I’ve heard Tank Noodle is one of the best in Chicago. Located at the corner of Broadway and Argyle in Uptown, this popular spot is part of the Asia on Argyle district. We went on Sunday evening, around 5 o’clock.  The restaurant was bustling, but we were seated right away. We absolutely beat the rush because by 5:30, there was a line out the door. We started with the Fried Shrimp Egg Rolls. They were a little smaller than we anticipated and I had a hard time finding the shrimp in mine. Still, you can’t beat a fried egg roll and they were a nice way to start our meal. We also shared the #88: rice vermicelli with pork egg rolls, shredded pork, pork skins, mixed vegetables, and peanuts. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy and there was an abundance of pork. The real star of our meal was the #122: Yang Chow Special Fried Rice. It was packed with protein: large shrimp, BBQ pork, and a smoky Chinese sausage. Egg, carrot, green peas, and bean sprouts added texture and flavor to the dish.

If you want to try Tank Noodle, hurry in! The owners are going on vacation from January 23 to March 7 and the restaurant will be closed during that time. Tank is BYOB and does not charge a corkage fee. Prices range from $10-15 per person and the portions are large enough for sharing or leftovers.
