RESTAURANT REVIEW – SAPORI TRATTORIA

Located at 2701 N. Halsted, Sapori Trattoria is a great local Italian restaurant in Lincoln Park. The front should not fool you to the restaurant’s size, which includes a back room and upstairs space. The restaurant has been around since 2001 and was opened by Chef Anthony Barbanente. The restaurant’s founding principles are quite simple. “At the forefront are attention to detail, warm friendly service, quality ingredients and the willingness to go the extra mile.”

We stopped in for a bite to eat to end a fun evening of wine tasting.  Our group had a couple plates to share and a couple appetizers that were very delicious. One of my favorites from the evening was the pesto gnocchi which was flavorful but not too overpowered by the pesto. The bruschetta was fresh and made with marinated tomatoes and basil. We also had the Crostini Di Avocado which is a great twist on the bruschetta.

The service was really stellar. Our server was helpful and knew the menu really well. In addition, we were trying to pick out the right bottle of wine but the sommelier came to our table and helped us pick the perfect bottle to pair with our food. Overall the staff was simply pleasant and personable.

It’s highly recommended that you make reservations as this restaurant gets busy most nights. They don’t deliver but they do take out. It’s a casual environment and affordable with costs ranging from $11-30 per person not including drinks.
