THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO — Indian Summer Perfect for Chicago’s Outdoor Events!

Well now, we have what very well may be an Indian Summer this weekend with temps in the 70’s which happens to be perfect timing for Chicago’s outdoor events taking place this weekend!

With October being National Breast Cancer Month, the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation’s Pink Path Run takes place this Saturday (7:30 a.m.) at Diversey Harbor (2601 N. Cannon Dr.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood helping to raise funds for breast cancer research, treatment and educational programs at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. This 3rd annual 5K Run/Walk kicks-off with the 5K Run at 9:00 a.m., followed by walkers, then strollers (no pets allowed). Awards will be presented to the Top Male, Top Female, Top Boy and Top Girl finishers as well as the Top Fundraiser and Top Fundraising Team. The Honorary Chair this year is Miranda Rae Mayo of the popular hit TV series “Chicago Fire” with this year’s race being dedicated to the memory of the Honorable Laura Liu who was a Board member of the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation. Help support this great cause as Chicago is being given an Indian Summer!

Time to treat your taste buds at this year’s Watson Adventures’ The Munch Around Lincoln Park Scavenger Hunt this Saturday (12:00 p.m.) at Oz Park (2021 N. Burling St.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The Hunt portion includes highlights such as Dorothy and friends in Oz Park, micro mansions, Founding Fathers loitering outside a pub, one of the city’s oldest houses, Dillinger’s death spot and more, while the Munch portion offers a variety of gourmet delights to suit your taste, your budget and your diet. However, each Team will need a smartphone or digital camera as well as $10 cash for food as the price of your ticket does not include food purchases! You’ll have a great time exploring this eclectic neighborhood!!

Perhaps you might like to treat your taste buds at the Logan Square Food Truck Social this Saturday and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.) in the Logan Square neighborhood on Humboldt Boulevard between Armitage and Bloomingdale Avenues. Enjoy dining options from over 15 food trucks along with live music, beer, and a lot of delicious Hormel® Black Label Bacon® dishes prepared by restaurant chefs and the food truck participants themselves!

Enjoy a night of fun and adventure at the Chicago Campfire Festival this Saturday (2:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) at Chase Park (4701 N. Ashland Ave.) in the Ravenswood neighborhood as the Park is transformed into a whimsical early autumn spectacular complete with real camp fires, a marshmallow roast, a s’more station, a popcorn bar, hot cocoa, a hay maze, a corn pit, a pumpkin patch and so much more! Don’t forget to bring your own blanket, a cooler and/or a picnic basket so you can spread out in true campfire-style!!

For those of us who like to celebrate with our four-legged family members, the Pets On the Plaza Event takes place this Saturday (3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.) at NEWCITY Lincoln Park (1457 N. Halsted St.) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for its “First Annual” Pet Parade. This event is for all ages, FREE admission, prizes being awarded for the Scariest Costume, Best Pair, Most Creative and Simply Cute! Other activities include face-painting, cookie decorating, strolling entertainment and more!!

Finally, The Logan Theatre (2646 N. Milwaukee Ave.) in the Logan Square neighborhood is hosting their 5th Annual Horror Movie Madness Festival throughout October with the following films being shown this weekend:
