Earlier today Check Point researchers uncovered several bugs on software running on chipsets made by Qualcomm. There are four vulnerabilities affecting 900 million Android tablets and smartphones. The findings (QuadRooter) were presented at DEF CON 24 in Las Vegas.

According to Check Point, “QuadRooter is a set of four vulnerabilities affecting Android devices built using Qualcomm chipsets. Qualcomm is the world’s leading designer of LTE chipsets with a 65% share of the LTE modem baseband market. If any one of the four vulnerabilities is exploited, an attacker can trigger privilege escalations for the purpose of gaining root access to a device.”

You can download QuadRooter Scanner to your Android device to determine if your device is susceptible to these bugs. If they are, you can request an update for your device’s operating system from your carrier or the manufacturer.
